Fight to the Finish

The (8-5) Tampa Bay Buccaneers are very much alive in the NFC playoff race with only 3 games left in the regular season. Teams also in the hunt for the last playoff spot are the (9-4) Giants and the (8-5) Packers.

1 Corinthians 9:24

"Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way to get the prize."

Around Thanksgiving I did a 120 mile bike marathon from Atlanta to the Alabama state line and back.  In this race there were a few very dedicated competitors who would do anything to be the first finisher. Some started earlier, took shorter breaks, some even skipped checkpoint stops. In the mornings they biked through the cold, in the late afternoons they biked through the heat, when there legs were in severe pain they pushed through. They were willing to do anything to win this race. In this passage I believe Paul is trying to challenge the people of Corinth to have this type of drive. If you are going to do something do it with intentions of succeeding. Not just passing but passing with flying colors. I feel like there are so many people who have dreams and goals but just don't put forth the effort that is necessary. I know it is very unrealistic to believe you will succeed in every aspect in life every single time. Sometimes God just wants us to try things so we can learn something new. But God gives us dreams and I believe we should chase them! Be passionate! Be motivational! Be influential! The next verse goes on by saying...
25 "Everyone who competes in these games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever".
As a christian it is my duty to do everything with the intentions of succeeding because I do it for the Lord. He is my prize.

Will Transit Sweater Day be able to handle Ryan Holdeman?

You Tell Me

1 Corinthians 3:6

"I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow."

This was a passage in the bible that I have been meditating on today. It reminds me that no matter how great we may think we are or how successful we think we are, it is never by our power that we have success, but by God's power. It's a very humbling thought. I feel God has a special plan or assignment customized for each of us. He gives each of us a seed. Whether or not we chose to plant this seed we all are given the opportunity. When we plant our seeds with the favor of God he will make sure the seed will be watered. Build it and they will come. Sometimes it takes a great amount of faith to plant a seed especially when you are not sure who will come along to help water it. In my mind I picture someone with a great vision for a church who has inspired others to serve in this church, which in the metaphor would be the water necessary for the growth process. But just like it says in the passage God is the one who actually makes it grow. Without God nothing is possible. I am nothing. But with God anything is possible. I have everything.

TO BAMA AND BACK

on November 11th and 12th Pastor Jeremiah and I rode from Smyrna, GA to the Alabama state line and back on bicycles in an event called "To Bama and Back" which helps raise money for missionaries over seas. In those 2 days we rode over 125 miles in less than 12 hours. It was probably one of the toughest things I have ever had to do mentally. But I am proud of myself for finishing strong.

MUSTACHES FOR MISSIONS = GREAT SUCCESS

Transit Student Ministries gave over $300 last week to missions to put us just over a total of $2000. There were mustaches everywhere and everyone had a great time!
